Memorial Location

The Memorial is located in Oak Ridge Cemetery, 1441 Monument Ave., Springfield, Illinois, near the Korean and Vietnam Veterans Memorials, a short distance from Abraham Lincoln’s tomb.

Driving Directions

From the North:

If you are coming from Chicago via Interstate 55, get off at Exit 100B, which is Sangamon Ave heading west.

Follow Sangamon Ave to 5th St, which is going North/South along Lincoln Park. Turn left, heading south on 5th Street until you come to North Grand Ave. Make a right turn and head west to Walnut Street (IL 29) or (J. David Jones Parkway).

Take a right turn onto Walnut Street (IL 29), and the Memorial will be approx 1/4 mile on your right-hand side.

From the South:

If you are coming from St. Louis, get off Interstate 55 at the 6th Street entrance. Follow 6th Street (which is one way only) going North until you come across North Grand Avenue which is after going through the downtown area. Turn left on North Grand Avenue and head west until you come to Walnut Street ( IL 29) or (J.David Jones Parkway). Take a right turn here, heading north, and the Memorial will be approx 1/4 mile on your right-hand side.

From the East:

If you are coming from Indianapolis, you will be heading west on Interstate 72, coming into Springfield. On the outskirts of Springfield, Interstate 72 turns into Clearlake Avenue (IL 97). Keep heading west on Clearlake Avenue (IL 97), which will eventually turn into Jefferson Street near 11th Street. Keep following Jefferson Street west through the downtown area until you come to Walnut Street (IL 29). Turn right and head North. Stay on Walnut Street (IL 29) and follow this until you reach the Memorial on your right-hand side.

From the West:

If you are coming from Kansas City, Quincy, etc., follow Interstate 72 going east to IL 4 (Veterans Parkway). Get of onto Veterans Parkway heading north and follow this to J. David Jones Parkway. (IL 29) Take a right turn off Veterans and head south approx 1/2 mile to the Memorial, which will be on your left-hand side.
